It all starts with a vision. One of the first things I establish with my design clients is a clear vision statement for their brand. This brief bio is foundational for everything we create moving forward – and today I’d love to share my brand vision formula with you!
The Brand Vision Formula
Above everything else, you want to be known for…
(Insert adjectives) (insert the product or service you offer) that helps people (insert the results or benefits your customers will get).
The formula can be broken down into 3 essential pieces.
- Adjectives – these are descriptive words. To pick them think about how you want your customers to describe you. Or consider how you want people to feel about your brand.
- Offering – what is your product or service?
- Results or Benefits – explain why someone should care about your brand. What impressive results or benefits can they expect?
The Brand Vision Formula in Use
Let’s look at some examples:
Exceptional quality, joyful and relaxing nail and aesthetician services that help people de-stress and unwind while being pampered so they can feel beautiful and rejuvenated.
Or…
Flirty, fun, and sustainable resort-style fashion for women over 50 that helps them feel good in what they’re wearing on vacation while also making environmentally conscious choices that are timeless and long-lasting.
Now it’s your turn!
First, pick 3 adjectives you want to be known for. Need some help? If you haven’t taken my brand style quiz, it’s the perfect place to start. Also, my favourite tool for coming up with new adjectives is wordhippo – use the synonyms feature for a gold mine of options.
Next, insert your product or service in a few brief words.
Lastly, describe the benefits and bonus points if you include how your clients will feel after using your offering.
And there you have it! Now when you’re making design decisions for your business, you can check back in with your brand vision to make sure it aligns. You can also use this as a piece of copy on the opening of your website.
