9 Simple Ways to Build Credibility on Your Website
Building credibility online is an essential part of marketing yourself as a service provider. Trust is hard to earn when there is a sea of others offering similar services. Proving yourself can take time but there are ways to build credibility on your website and show you’re a trusted advisor. Here’s how:
#1 – Media Mentions
Media features prove you’ve been vetted enough to be published as an expert in your industry. Show the logos in a banner on your home and about pages.
#2 – Customer Testimonials
Reviews from past customers explain how great you are in someone else’s words. Share these on your home, about, and contact pages.
#3 – Case Studies
Detail examples of case studies to clearly show the problem, solution, and end result. This demonstrates you can relate to your client’s struggles and know how to yield a great outcome.
#4 – Portfolio of Work
Examples of past work show your track record and demonstrate you can do the same for others. For an example, check out my portfolio here.
#5 – Relevant Work History
Mix in a few relevant facts about what makes you uniquely qualified for the job. Your About page is the perfect place for this. But remember, this should be highly curated. Please don’t include your entire work biography.
#6 – Client List
Name drop recognizable, high-profile leaders in your niche. If they trust you, others will too. This is a great option if you can’t share project specifics.
#7 – Link to Active Online Communities
If you have an active following elsewhere and regularly churn out engaging content, it’s ok to flaunt it a little. (Just be sure any links away from your site open in new browser tabs.) Great examples include Medium, LinkedIn, YouTube, or Houzz.
#8 – Accomplishments You’ve Helped Others Achieve
When your clients achieve success, this says something about you too. Weave these details into your copy for an extra boost of credibility on your website.
#9 – Show Your Beautiful Face
The first time I published my headshot on my website, I wanted to cringe. I get it – it can be embarrassing but your photo will help potential customers connect with you on a personal level.
The more of these you can implement on your website, the bigger the impact. One final tip – don’t hide these things away on their own page. Mixing them with existing content on highly visible pages where visitors will see it is key.
