How Ship 30 For 30 Will Make You Love Writing in Public
What is Ship 30 for 30?
Ship 30 for 30 is a cohort-based course that has taught over 7,000 students the fundamentals of writing on the internet.
But unlike other writing programs, the Ship 30 for 30 course gets you actively writing and publishing every day. You’ll ship 30 pieces of original content in 30 days. It’s a transformative experience that gives you the tools, strategies, and support you need to finally start writing consistently online.
So, why did I join?
I used to be afraid to use my voice.
A quiet kid, I never raised my hand in class. In my twenties, I lived with a fear of saying or doing the wrong thing. I actively avoided any attention that might make me look foolish. Becoming a mom in my thirties, my mindset shifted as I watched my son try the same thing over and over again with sheer determination.
Coming into Ship 30 for 30, I wanted to be a better writer.
I was looking to get more traction from the content I was creating. Hoping to find clarity around what to write about, I wanted to make an impact with my words.
I was ready to learn in public.
So, what did I accomplish in Ship 30 for 30 exactly?
I shipped 30 atomic essays in 30 days.
I used to avoid Twitter at all costs. I preferred to hide behind a pretty image on Instagram where my thoughts weren’t out in the open for all to see. Ship 30 gave me a safe space within the very public & potentially harsh landscape of Twitter to create openly without fear.
The community is a comfort blanket of supportive and encouraging learners who have become friends.
Did I get called out?
Yes, but the feedback was refreshing, helpful, and constructive.
As a self-employed web designer, I usually get compliments or crickets. People either love your work or don’t say anything. The Ship 30 community is a special breed of writers that genuinely want to see you succeed.
The list of what I learned is vast.
The only downside?
I’ve had the worst sleep.
I can’t quiet my mind because it’s bursting with thoughts and ideas. I’m making up for lost time and have so much to say about design and small business life.
Keep following me on Twitter to read what’s keeping me up at night.
Is Ship 30 for 30 worth it?
If your goal is to be a better writer, then my honest review is yes, it’s worth the price.
I’ve now participated in 3 cohorts and many other challenges within the community. I keep coming back because the lessons are easy to follow, the community is engaging, and it helps me stay committed. Also, unlike other courses where the material doesn’t change, Dickie and Cole improve and refine the program with every single cohort.
I especially love the recent addition of ChatGPT prompts to make it even easier to start writing online.
