As I catch up on my portfolio of work from 2019, today I’m so excited to share more about the interior decor web design project for Layered Home and Living!
Layered Home and Living is a new home decor and furniture retail store in Port Coquitlam BC. The owner, Liliana, was looking for a simple, airy and elegant web design.
To create the mood we were after with her brand, we choose a soft and neutral colour palette.
For fonts, we choose a classic combination of serif for headings and an easy to read sans serif for body copy. We chose to accent the overall design with this gorgeous script font in her brand gold.
Photography was going to be very important in showcasing her home decor products. We wanted images to be very neutral, light and bright!

With colours like soy, cloud and flannel, her brand palette makes me want to curl up on a comfy couch with a cup of tea and read a great book. The final colour palette is as relaxed and elegant as it can get!
Sourcing the right photographer for this project was a priority. When I found Courtnee Pirozzini on Instagram, I knew she was a perfect choice!
Our photography strategy was to capture imagery around the key themes of the Layered Home and Living brand. For example, themes included product close up shots, vignettes of the retail store and interior design in action.
Here’s a fun behind the scenes peek of us on the photoshoot!
Finally, with all the brand visuals completed I was able to develop the Shopify website.
We sourced a premium theme and ended up using Responsive from Out of the Sandbox. This theme is beautiful and offered all the functionality we were after.
I’m so excited about this launch. You can have a look at the Layered Home and Living website here.
